Frequently
Asked Questions

Do I need a travel visa and if so, can I get help with applying for this?

There can be a variety of different requirements for travel visas depending on your nationality and where you are going. Should you need help with obtaining a visa we recommend contacting CIBT. For additional information contact Government Travel Advice.

Will I be required to have any vaccinations or medication while travelling?

It is essential that you visit your GP or a travel clinic well in advance of travel, preferably at least six weeks ahead, to make sure that you have taken all the necessary health precautions. Some vaccinations require more than one visit with a period of weeks between injections, and some may be incompatible with certain medicines or medical conditions. It is therefore important that your own individual medical history is considered.

It is extremely important that you are given the latest and most precise information specific to the destination that you have chosen to visit. For up-to-date medical advice you may wish to use the Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad (MASTA), the NHS website or The National Travel Health Network and Centre respectively via;

Are international flights included?

International air travel is not included in the price of your Avventura adventure except when our tours cover more than one country. Our team is on hand to help, advise and support you with booking your flights should you wish.

Are your adventures suitable if I have a medical condition or disability?

As we pride ourselves on providing authentic adventure travel experiences, you will need to be prepared for some physical exercise. We will try to cater for any special requirements you may have. If you or any member of your party has any medical problem or disability which may affect your booking, please provide us with full details before you make your booking so that we can try to advise you as to the suitability of your chosen arrangements. We may require you to produce a doctor’s certificate certifying that you are fit to participate.

What will happen if I fall ill during the tour?

It is a condition of your booking with us that you have the appropriate travel insurance in place before your departure date. It is your sole responsibility on behalf of all persons named on the booking confirmation to ensure you have the appropriate level of cover. You should ensure that there are no exclusion clauses limiting or excluding any of the activities included in your holiday itinerary and that your insurance fully covers all your personal requirements including pre-existing medical conditions, medical expenses and repatriation in the event of accident or illness.

Should you fall ill during your tour our local staff will be available to assist in the first instance. Dependent upon the severity of your condition, we will coordinate with your travel insurer and our crisis management capability to provide the most appropriate action and support.

How many people can I expect to be travelling with?

Avventura deliberately keeps group size to a maximum of twelve. This will enable you to get the most out of your experience. Our tour detail pages provide information on specific group sizes.

Would a tour be cancelled if it does not reach its full capacity?

Avventura will only cancel a tour in extreme circumstances. We do not expect to cancel tours due to not reaching the full capacity of the tour.

Will I know who my travel companions are prior to my trip?

We’d be honoured to have you join our community of travellers and recognise that you’re making a significant investment in your adventure. Although we are unable to share information about other travellers in advance for reasons of privacy, our tours have been carefully crafted for people who are passionate about seeking the extraordinary.

Do your tours have any age restrictions?

Some tours do have age restrictions which vary according to the specific tour. Please see the Tour Details section for specific tour information.

Will I incur single supplement fees as I am travelling alone?

Our tour prices are based upon two people sharing accommodation. Prices for single travellers are available upon request and will incur a supplement.

What is the most appropriate clothing to bring on this type of tour?

We would suggest packing as lightly as you can. There may be requirements specific to your destination and the time of year. Any such requirements will be advised clearly in your booking fulfilment pack.

Is it possible to see a breakdown of where I will be staying during the tour?

Avventura sets a high priority in finding the best accommodation available in each destination. An overview of all hotels, lodges and camps can be found on the relevant tour details page.

What type of transportation should I expect to be using throughout the tour?

Differing types of transportation have been chosen for their suitability and convenience in each location. The itinerary of your chosen tour provides a more in-depth breakdown of specific transport used.

Is it possible for me to join the tour after the start date or leave before it ends?

We will always try to accommodate your personal requirements and be as flexible as possible. As you will be travelling to some remote locations, logistics may not allow late joining or early departure. It should be noted that pricing is based upon the whole tour and will not be able to be reduced or discounted should such arrangements be able to be made.

What type of luggage is the most suitable?

We would advise taking a backpack or holdall with you for daily use. In most instances our local staff will provide porterage but you will need to be prepared to carry your own luggage in certain circumstances. Some itineraries may have restrictions on domestic flight luggage weights. We will advise clearly in your booking fulfilment pack should this be the case. Where possible we will provide a secure left luggage service.
