NORTHERN CAPE

TSWALU MOTSE

Tswalu Private Reserve is a vast, magical land with sweeping vistas and a liberating sense of space. The green Kalahari is nature at its most diverse and surprising. Tswalu is a place governed by the ancient rhythms of the seasons rather than the clock and the calendar. It brings together conservation, socio-economic development, research and unrivalled safari experience. The local ethos is to leave our world better than how we found it.

The Motse is one of two luxurious reserve camps designed and sited to provide the best of the reserve’s dramatic landscape. The Motse, a “village” of just nine houses, provides exclusivity, privacy, and unfettered access to one of southern Africa’s last true wildernesses. Each suite has a private viewing deck and open fireplace with indoor and outdoor showers. The main building has an outdoor swimming pool, spa and gymnasium. The culinary experience is superb with sustainability at its core; Kalahari ingredients are foraged daily and the camp works closely with local suppliers to maintain its low-impact ethos.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

LION SANDS RIVER LODGE

Lion Sands is the only private game reserve rooted in both the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger National Park. It is one of only seven private park concessions and protects 12,500 acres of pristine wilderness, as well as sites of cultural and historical significance.

Lion Sands River Lodge is located on the banks of the Sabie River; an ideal position for spotting wildlife coming down to the water to drink. Its prime location provides the greatest chance of seeing Africa’s iconic wildlife species – lion leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo and zebra – along with a supporting cast of no less intriguing 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of bird.

River Lodge offers a chic design interpretation of the traditional safari lodge, with contemporary décor and limited walls allowing a flow between interior and exterior. Its individual eight luxury rooms are set along a path to reveal splendid river views, making for an intimate safari experience. Wooden walkways lead off to a spa, gym and pool, and back to the main lodge, where the deck’s connected water features give the impression of floating on the river.
